When I have messages arrive in my inbox, they don't always appear straight away. If I click another folder they suddenley appear.

It's as if there is a refresh problem.

I use Outlook 98 on a windows 98SE PC.

Thanks for any help.

All your software (client and server) is really rather old by now! (we're still on Exchange 5.5 but at least we use OL2000.)

Sometimes the clients just drop the UDP ports that the new mail notifications are arriving on. This can be random, ie one client will drop it, the one on the next desk won't. Also, this can be a feature of a busy network (remember, a UDP packet is fire and forget, no ack). The solution is to log out of Outlook and back in again. It can be tested by sending yourself a message - the Exchange server doesn't care what address the message arrives from!

Office SP3 has a fix in it for OL2000 that allows you to move the client over from passing UDP listening to active polling via a reg entry - we have this and it's fine. Maybe think about upgrading your clients?
