Mailbox moved to a different site. Still shows up.

A mailbox has been moved to a different site, and the mail has been imported to this new mailbox. The mailbox has been deleted at the remote site, but still shows up at our site. How can replication or synchronization (not sure of the difference)be performed manually so that the change is immediate?
Thanks in advance for any info. you can provide.
