Well, for the life of me I can't figure this out.

I want to set a policy for my spam mailbox to automatically remove items in the Inbox that are older than 14 days. On my 2000 box it was done via Mailbox Management. Apparently I'm not entering the right search criteria because I can't find in 2007 where to set this up!

Well, I've done that, but I can't find where I can specify that I want to remove everything in the Inbox older than 14 days. I've added the policy, added the Inbox, but when I apply it to a mailbox my only option is to retain email for a specified period of time. I don't find where I configure it to remove email older than...

Ok..found it under "new manage content settings" under the default boxes...now I just have to figure out how to apply it to a single mailbox.

Well that was a comedy of errors! I've been messing around with the new Exchange to get used to it. One thing I'd done was set my deleted items retension to 0 days, just testing things. Unfortunately, I forgot to set it back to 14 days. Well, I got the bright idea to just use autoarchive on the spam mailbox to remove everything beyond 14 days without prompting. Unfortunately, I set the default to that...and promptly deleted everything from MY mailbox beyond 14 days!

Now I get to learn how to use the recovery storage group in conjunction with my Symantec 11d software (that wasn't set for individual mailboxes) to recover my lost email.

Should have stayed in bed.
