Mailbox Management Policies

I'm about to run a test on a server regarding Mailbox Management. I've created a new Mailbox Manager Policy in Receipient Policies and pointed it to my test user. It is set to send report for any mail older than 30 days. Imported some old mail to the mailbox. BUT I haven't done the "Start Mailbox Management Process" from the Properties of the server.

I see another Policy under "Receipient Policies", that is an "Email Addresses" policy. When I run the mailbox management process, will the "Email Addresses" policy that is also in Reeipient policies also run? I don't want that to happen because the "Email addresses" policy may change/add all the users default email addresses.

The Recipient Policy for email addresses is not a mailbox management policy. The two types of policies are configured in the same area, but they are not the same type.

Running "Start Mailbox Management Process" will not cause the email recipient policy to take effect just then, since it is a different kind of policy.

To create the default addresses, you'd have to right-click on the default policy and choose "Apply this policy now".

Thanks very much! Do you happen to know I'd be able to find that specific information on the MS support site? Don't get me wrong, I definitely hold your input high, I just need information from MS to justify.

Note that the default email address policy is enforced by RUS, which is running continuously, so whether or not you run the Mailbox Management Process, your default email address policy will probably be enforced, possibly even before you start the Mailbox Management Process. Note also that while RUS is running constantly, keeping the default email recipient policy up to date, the actual Mailbox Management job is scheduled separately, since it has a different function. It's not included in the frequent RUS operations.

Running the "Start Mailbox Management Process" activates the mailbox management subfunction, it doesn't start the whole RUS machine, which is already running.

I have to say, I don't understand exactly what you are trying to prevent. You aren't editing or changing an email address policy, so whatever's already in place should remain. If you create a mailbox management policy under the Recipient Policy container, it won't have anything to do with email addresses.
