Hi we are running a 3300 on mcd 4.2 and last night after giving the receptionist instructions to change the auto attendant greeting via the 9999 mailbox, I noticed that all mailboxes are missing this morning and 9999 has been changed to 99. any ideas what has happened here and how to switch back to a 4 digit plan? When trying to readd mailboxes it only lets you add 2 digit mailboxes.

actually I think I figured it out....they did a new installation. Im just afraid to hit it again but I dont know why.

The receptionist had the Admin level access and accidently entered 1 at the main menu

This initiated a re-install of the voicemail

She then pressed 2

This set the Mailbox length to 2

You need to reverse this.

The Bad news is that every user will need to re-setup their mailboxes

The Good news is that any messages they had will still be there after setup.

Best practice is to only give customers the Manager Passcode (setup via option 6). This will prevent nasty little surprises like this.

Be Aware, Although Kwbmitel is probably correct(hopefully) this is also a tatic of voicemail hackers, check your mailboxes extension numbers to ensure nothing funny in there and also your fax settings.

Yep turns out you cant even trust people with step by step instructions sometimes. I think im using the manager option that kwb mentioned going forward.
