how can i add a "mail to link" in a jpeg or gif image.
thanks.
i know how to slice... but need more info.

Links are handled in HTML, not within the image file.

If you are using ImageReady, you can find places to add links in the 'Image Map' and 'Slice' palettes.

i saw that. but i need more info and directions please.
thanks.

Assuming that you have sliced the image in Photoshop...

File -> Edit in ImageReady

From the Tools palette, select the Slice Select Tool (Hotkey 'O')

Click on the sliced section of the image that you want to add a link.

Access the 'Slice' palette and enter the URL.

File -> Save Optimized As... and save as type of HTML and images.

If you're building a site.. your site software should be able to create an image map link..also

(I dont want to assume you have image ready)

i was able to get it sliced. and it saves it as html. when i drag into my browser. it works.
but how can i email it to people.
our website only lets me upload jpegs, etc.
unto my power link. unless there is a place to upload html. i am not sure...

Why not? CS2 comes with ImageReady.

kentucky, if you have successfully created the HTML and images from Photoshop/ImageReady, there is nothing left to do in Photoshop. You now have a new issue regarding uploading to your web server and using your mail client. You should look to your web hosting company for assistance as each host has their own methods. There are other Tek-Tips forums that can aid you with posting HTML to your web server ( forum215 ) and using your mail program ( forum605 ).
