I am moving over to a new domain name, but want o keep receiving mail from the old one. The mail server is local so creating another account and just changing the mail server is not an option. I have put the new email address into the reply to field, and it is still going out with the old domain name.

the server is sendmail and the client is outlook

Anyone have any ideas as to why the client or server is over riding the domain address to the original domain name

not sure of what your situation is but you might have to set up a new profile, using the same old profile contains info from your previous domain and may be cauing this problem.

Is the sendmail server already setup to accept mail for both domains? If so, then you only need to change settings in Outlook. Using Outlook, keep the existing mail account as it is. Then add a new account for your new domain name. Next, you need to tell Outlook which account to use for sending. The specific way to do this depends on what version of Outlook that you're using.

If you're asking how to setup sendmail to send/receive on behalf of both domains, you should ask in the sendmail forum forum14.

figured out the problem was on the sendmail side, had to do with allowing a spoof using masquerading domains.
