Hello

My company uses microsoft exchange and outlook as a mailing system. The mail server has a total of 5 GB for more or less 65 mail-boxes... Is this enough? How many disk-space do you reserve for your mail-server?
The reason I ask this is because our mail-server crashed due to not enough space to start microsoft exchange. I have to admit that there's no limit on the amount of space a user can take with his mailbox...

thanx in advance!!

The only solution to this problem is to regularly monitor how much free disk space you have on the hard disk(s) on your exchange server, when you are running out of space ensure you have a new disk ready and waiting......

Hello!

Thanks for your response!!!

Time has gone by, and the problem has solved itself... but not on a good way... Our server crashed realy hardly due to a power outage and we had to move our exchange server to another machine (with loaaaaads of space).

Anywho, thanks for your time!

Hello,

I have been running Exchange 5.5 for 5 years now. I have one bridgehead and three site servers. I have found that you need at LEAST a 20gig hard drive so that you can partition into sufficient segments. One for primarily your OS and basic Exchange application and the other three partitions to separate the data stores for optimization, (using the built in Optimizer). Hope this helps.
