Hi! I run a website on Windows Server 2003 and have a mail server on Windows Server 2000. I run phpbb forum software on the website, and there's a function within phpbb to send out a mass email to all members. But this is where the problem starts. Mail bounces back and maybe 25/250 members on the website actually get the email.
The mail server runs IIS SMTP service, works really well. It sends out email instantly, I just wish someone would actually receive it, I assume it's a trust issue with DNS? I buy my domain name with GoDaddy.com and map it to my IP address through an A record. To do that, I use the DNS tool within GoDaddy [a web based editor for DNS].
So one of the administrators on the site will go into the administrator control panel on phpbb, and try to send a mass email. The email sends. However, I check the email of the address that it's sending from, and its full of "delivery notification failure" messages. ISP's like AOL, Comcast, Yahoo etc, all bounce the email back and say it cannot be sent.
The obvious problem is that these ISP's are seeing my address as junk mail. How do I make it trusted? I've seen so many sites that are able to send mail no problem through their server and have it go to my inbox and not my junk mail. I'd like mine to be able to do that too.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.
