I am using a third party tool (SolarWinds Exchange Monitor) to monitor my Exchange level at a basic level.

It is showing 15 messages in the Mail Send Queue.

When I launch Exchange System manager and expand to Administrative Groups > (CompanyName) > Servers > (ExchangeServerName) > QUEUES I do not see any excessive number of messages waiting (only 1 in an Internet mail queue, normal). (I dont see a queue names SEND MAIL, am I supposed to?)

I have ran the Exchange Best Practices Analyzer and nothing stood out as problems found

Adding the MSExchangeIS\Mailbox counter to Perfmon I see it reporting 15 as well.

How do I resolve this?
Note: Email internally and externally appearts to flowing just fine. No reported problems by my 30 users.

Can anybody offer up some assistance?

Exchange forum, "mail internally and externally appearts to flowing just fine. No reported problems by my 30 users"

Looks like there may be something that is not set up right with the solar winds, is there a forum or faq on their website ?

Thank you for the response noveyron.

I at first thought that the Solar Winds tool was too not reporting propertly. I opened the performnace monitoring tool (perfmon) in Windows (2003 R2 SP2) and added the MSExchangeIS Mailbox object with the Send Queue Size counter (total). This is reporting 15 items (16 now) in the send queue.

So I believe something is in this queue, I am just not sure 1) where this queue exits (path wise) and 2) what to do about it as mail flow internal and external "seems" normal.

Hi Joshua

I would tend to ignore it, as your exchange is functioning correctly as far as you can see in ESM, your users are happy, and so are you apart from the issues that solarwinds is reporting.

I don't believe, from what you have written, that you have any Exchange issues, although I do appreciate that the solarwinds is reporting something not right. Unfortunately I don't have the first clue about solarwinds, so I will bow out at this stage, and leave it to someone with more experience in this area.

Thanks for your assistance noveyron.

Did you see the link I provided?. The screen shot is actually from Performance Monitoring from Windows. So Exchange is seeing this queue build up as well, so I can rule out a SolarWins monitoring issue.

In Exchange System Manager Queue Viewer I just do not see where I can view this "mail send" queue.

I am pretty sure there isnt a problem, but trying to perform my due diligence to make sure.

Thanks again.
