Hi wondering if anyone can help me.

I'm having a problem with emails that should be routed internally. They are htting the Domino server and becuase they are addressed to internet addresses they are being sent to my Outbound SMTP server for delivery, but they should be routed internally.

the emails are addressed as follows t.user@sti.comp.com - this address is an internal Exchange server - and it should be routed internally but as I say it gets sent to the SMTP server. Is there anyway to tell Domino not to route these emails to the SMTP server?

Thanks.

Have you created a Foreign SMTP domain to route mail addressed to that domain to a specific IP?

Hi

I've just created a Foreign SMTP domain document (FSMTPD), with the following entries:

Internet Domain = *sti.comp.com (so any email addressed to sti.comp.com so be routed using this FSTMPD Document)

Domain Name = EXSMTP (I made this up?)

I think the above is okay for the FSMTPD document, yes?

Then I have added an SMTP Connection document from my server with the following entries:

Destination Server = I put in the IP address of the Exchange server
Destination Domain = EXSTMP (I think it needs too match the Domain Name in the FSMTPD Document?)
SMTP Relay Host: Again I used the IP address of the Exchange server.

Does all of this sound correct?

Thanks.

Hi. Going by what we have had I would enter :-
FSMTPD:
Internet Domain = sti.comp.com (we didnt have an *)
Domain Name - we left blank.
Host - we entered the IP of the destination server (could be by name)

Connection Doc:
Destination Server - IP of server
Destination Domain - sti.comp.com
SMTP Relay Host - IP of server

I think you have it ok (whether you need the *, im not sure, but we didnt).

HTH
Mark.

Okay thanks for that I'm obviously getting closer. The email now tries routing to the IP address rather than moving it on to the SMTP server - but I now get an error message in the Mail Event Log, here's the msg:

08.12.2005 10:28:14 AM Router: Message 0033F11E NOT transferred via SMTP to xxx.xxx.xxx.xx for b.smith@sti.comp.com from ME/EUCOMP
Size: 1K 450 <b.smith@sti.comp.com>: Recipient address rejected: Greylisted for 300 seconds (see
I've not seen this error msg before, any ideas what's causing it or will I need to talk to the people maintaining the Exchange server?

First the Exchange admin has to allow your server to connect to it. That may well be why its rejected. They have probably got it setup to block relaying.

Just read the link in your error.

Postfix server will always reject the first message from a new sender. Try again and see if it goes through.

Just checked the Mail Event Logs and it now looks like the mails are going through properly. I'll keep an eye on it just in case.

Thanks very much for your help - this has been a real nightmare and without your help I'd still be pulling my hair out !!

Thanks.

You were pretty much there anyway. Sometimes its good to bounce ideas/concerns off another for peace-of-mind if nothing else. Glad I may have been some help.
