Hi All,
Running w2k and ex2k. If one of our exchange servers goes down emails arent getting queued at the bridgehead. Rather, as soon as the bridgehead cant see the server that the mailbox is on it sends it to the smarthost (mailmarshal server) for processing this then sends it back to the bridgehead and it bounces between the two till the maximum number of hops is reached and an NDR is sent. Does any one know why the bridgehead, when uanble to find the correct exchange server, doesnt just store it in the queue until either the server is back online or the expiration timeout is reached?
Thanks
