I'm running Sendmail 8.12.8 on RedHat 7 with seperate queue runner sendmail -bd and sendmail -qp30m. My mail queue continues to increase even though I running the queue every 30 minutes, I have a 4 hour timeout.queuereturn and a MaxQueueRunSize set to 10000 messages. but message never get flushed out of the queue and remains for days. when looking at the qf file the N value is set to 0 on serveral messages as if it never get processed during the queue run. I resorted to running qtool.pl to move old messages to another queue and manually run the queue with sendmail stop to get the queue empted. What would keep the messages in the queue from not being processed or aged out? they all seam to be spam NDR's.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi,

have you check your mail log file? it should contains something about why your mail didnt go out. Could be not be able to reach destination etc etc.

Sounds like a DNS issue. Like dbase77 suggested look in /var/log/maillog and post what happens when you run sendmail -q -v

Hi,
You can increase the sendmail process to max allowed. This should solve your problem.
try running sendmail -v email@goddess.com.
Resolving?????

If there is a DNS issue here it won't matter how many processes you allow. If sendmail can't resolve the intended recipient the mail can't be delivered. bizzit needs to post the error log.
