Hi,

Im developing a post card print run for an inhouse maketing campaign. Dealing with a large database I need to be able to mailmerge the data base info with my PCard design. I can develope a mail merge fairly easily in indesign but my problem arises in that I have designed the doc 4 up and I cannot get the data to popluate 4 up on page and fit within a certain area to maintain postal regulations--can anyone help?

...you have your data fields on a master page?

...have you styled the postioned fields as you want them to appear with regards to point size etc?

...it will be a bit trial and error, but it is flexible to have your fields on a master page, you can then adjust the master and it will reflect across all linked pages, saving you a re-import...

Wow, thanks for the swift reply and help Andrew,

I have created this document as a master and laid out the multiple text boxes that require the fields, the problem is now is that I am getting the same data duplicated --so I will have 2 up on the l;eft for the example but the data on the right is identical to the left.

...you can experiment with multiple record layouts takes a bit of playing and a bit fiddly, create one text area and then using the merge dialog to set distances etc, there is a preview check box too to see where these boxes will fall...

...you have to find a happy medium with regards to size of text area and how far the boxes need to be away from each other...

...the alternative would be to do it in singular record per page format, then export to pdf and print from acrobat as a 4up per sheet layout...
