I am trying to mail merge into a Publisher document. I read that Publisher doesn't always format numbers properly in a mail merge, and that is what is happening to me. I go through the steps and when it gets to Step 2 and shows the mail merge recipients preview there are 15 decimal places on a number that should only have two. Most numbers are like this but not all. I have tried using a Tab-delimited text file like Help suggested, but the numbers are still displaying all the decimal places. The Excel file and the Text file showed the correct number of decimal places. Any help anyone could provide would be appreciated! Thank you!

I wrote a couple of thoughts and then tried a simple merge. I created a simple little excel spread sheet with Name and Amount fields, varying numbers of decimal places. Then I changed to show 2 decimal places, cut and pasted to Word. Completed a merge with publisher (wizard) and only showed 2 dec places.

Tried a merge straight from excel, where I could only see 2 dec places but when merging, could see that the numbers were displayed as 5 etc dec places.

I suggest 2 options: convert all of the numbers to 2 dec places in excel, as distinct from simply showing only 2 dec places, ( wouldn't have a clue how to do, but the office forum will help out there), or,

If you can copy and paste your two dec place numbers and everything else to a word doc, and do the merge from that. Same thing as all the others, but just need to look for All Files rather than the various data type files.

May be an easier way, but that's my suggestion
