Mail Merge format problems

Hi

I am having a problem with formatting of a mail merge document (Outlook addresses onto Envelope's) When I put all of the fields on the document everything is nicely lined up for an address label. But when I view the merged data lines are all messed up. It looks as though the 2nd line is tabbed across from the first etc. But when I then click to hide the merged data everything is lined up again.

Why does this happen? and how can I fix it? also does anyone know anything about printers? when trying to print to the envelope my printer does not allow me to enter a custom size. Well technically it does but it always tells me that the dimensions I entered are not within the limits, even though they are. Not sure whats up with that, any ideas? More important that I sort out the address formatting though than the envelope.

No offense, but did you actually press the Enter key after inserting the fields on the label? You must do this rather than spacing until it wraps to the next line (which could explain what you describe). If this is the case, delete the spaces and put an Enter in their place.

I have found with Office 2000 that if I want to print from a non-default tray I have to set both the printer options within Word and the printer options in the printer setup; the first will not override the second if they are different. Perhaps you are having a similar experience with the envelope size. Try setting them in both locations and see what happens.

Thanks for the replies, I will try the printer settings sometime over the weekend. As for pressing the Enter key yes I did do that, will keep trying and messing about with the settings. Maybe start again and see what occurs if I start with a new mail merge.
