Ok here is my problem. I am trying to do a mail merge using ACT! Version 9.0.1.162 and MS Word 2003 (Version 11.8134.8132 SP2).

I am attempting to merge directly to the printer. The problem is I keep getting one of two different errors:

The RPC server is unavailable (exception from hresult: 0x800706ba)

or

The message filter indicated that the application is busy. (exception from hresult: 0x8001010a (RPC_servercall_retrylater))

I have called ACT tech support twice and they have been unable to resolve the issue. Any suggestions?

Thanks Mike. I may have just resolved the issue. The template I designed had margins outside the printable area and that was causing a warning diologue box to pop up.

I have successfully accomplished a mail merge directly to the printer with prior versions of ACT while having margins outside the printable area after receiving the same warning. All I would do is click "Ok" and the print operation would continue. For some reason this version hangs.

To answer your question Mike: No, I did not have the same issue when merging directly to the word processor.

To resolve the issue, I simply modified the margins in the template. Now it merges without error.

It's a Microsoft thing ... most likely a MS Word or printer driver update that changed the way it was handled rather than the ACT! version.

Yep, I think you are right. It seems to be a Microsoft issue. Now I have to resolve one other issue. I'm having an issue with synchronizing my ACT and Outlook calendars. I have the steps down but nothing seems to happen??? I guess that's a topic for another thread.

Mike, a bit off topic but your name seems very familiar to me. Are you the author of the ACT 2000 for Dummies books I have? I don't have them in front of me to look.

No... I can't remember who did the 2000 one, maybe Jeffrey Mayer.

I've been involved with ACT! for 20 years ... we wrote MergeMaster! - the advanced email merge product for ACT! 5/6 and now for 7/8/9/10

That's right, Jeff Mayer was the author. I've been using ACT a long time myself so I know I must recognize your name from researching one of your add-on products. Thanks for your help Mike.

I've knew Jeff for quite a while. We used to meet up once a year in the US for a drink. I think he sadly passed away a couple of years ago.

Wow, I didn't realize that he had passed. He was quite the authority on ACT! I used to subscribe to his newsletter.
