mail merge causes word 2007 to crash

1608 contacts in outlook 2007 using exchange server. my client performs the mail merge in word 2007 and once it finds her contact list word crashes. any ideas

does anyone have any suggestions. this client performed mail merges all the time using office 2003 but now that she have office 2007 the mail merge crashes word every time. i had her log onto a different workstation and the same thing happened. is there anything in exchange that has to be modified?
