- user can send and receive e-mail within our system and send to the outside world. However when you try to send an e-mail from outside our system (from an internet e-mail account), the message makes it through GWIA, through the domain(s) and to the post office, but then reports the following message:

Distribute message from:
Begin distribution to 1 users
Error: User not on post office [D101]
Purge message record
Processed OK

Never reports back to the outside that the mail was undeliverable.

This seems to have happened with a name change (user changed last name which affected the address format). Have run GWCheck (standalone) against the user account and rebuilt post office.

It never sends it back because that's not the job of the Post office. The GWIA should recognize that the user is invalid (or valid) and then take any action.

Since the GWIA thinks the user is valid but the PO doesn't, this tells me there is a disconnect between both agents.

Lookup the process for doing a top down rebuild. Basically it involves rebuilding the domain and post office databases. This will most likely clear up the inconsistencies.

Also, you are running obsolete code. You should get up to GW6.5 SP6+ or better yet upgrade to GW7 so you are running supported software.
