Hello,

I am running RH Linux 8.0. I have setup sendmail - I am able to send & receive mail (to & from the Internet).
I have created users. When the users send a mail, the receipient receives
it from user@localhost.localdomain where as it should be
user@mydomain.com

I had created my id during OS installation & hence mails from me go right
i.e. user@mydomain.com. How do I rectify it?

Thanks & Regards,
Srinivasan.

In sendmail.mc make the changes below if you support multiple domains. If you only support one, then 'dnl' the masquerade exception option and uncomment the masquerade_as option.

dnl MASQUERADE_AS(`domain.net')dnl
MASQUERADE_EXCEPTION_FILE(`/etc/mail/masq_exceptions')
FEATURE(`masquerade_envelope')

in masq_exceptions:
place your domains here (domain.com)

now run 'm4 sendmail.mc >sendmail.cf' and restart sendmail. Lots of info on this at the sendmail site.
