Mail Disappearing

Hi,

I need help please, I have several users who are missing their mail from Inbox and other folders. I ask the users if they did anything to their mail db and the answer were no. I've tried compacting, fixup and refresh design but nothing seems to work. They do get new emails and some users have all new emails goes to the ALL DOCUMENTS, so what I did was copied the new mail to the Inbox(short term fix). I'm about to restore some of the users with their mail db and am wondering if anyone else have this problem or fix.

We have experienced a lot of confusion with the button 'Iiew unread' in the Lotus Notes 6 mail template. Once users press this they only see their unread mails. Then they read a mail and immediately the mail vanishes from the view. We then always tell them to press the button 'View All' and all the documents are back again. Might also be the reason in your case - it's worth a try... :)

Forgot to mention, we're also using ND 6.5.4 and we've upgraded to the latest version since over a year ago now all of the sudden these issues came up.
During the troubleshooting, I did perform the "View All" and all other that were mention but still no dice. I don't know of a command switch on the server that maybe will fix or restore the db.

We had the problem a year ago (still under Notes 5) that some users suddenly received their mails into the 'All documents' view instead of the Inbox. In our case it was a design update that went wrong (it didn't run through properly for some unknown reason) -----> refreshing the database design helped for some cases, and for some we even had to do a 'replace design' to correct the error.

Thanks for the feedback.
I did perform all those things that you mentioned, such as refreshing design, compacting, fixup and even replacing design since some of the db are not ODS v43. I'm not sure if that's the reason that these mail in the old db version are disappearing. I've searched preactically everywhere for clues to fixing this problem but no dice.
