Hi - I have an Exchange 2000 server with Outlook clients (45). Our email delivery internally/externally in/out is significantly delayed - 1 hour or more. I checked the services, the queues, relay and I can't find anything that would cause this. The last time we had a delay like this, the DNS servers at networksolutions were down. I am at a loss as to what to try and would greatly appreciate any help. Thanks!

I'm assuming that when you say they're delayed, that they eventually reach the intended recipients.

If that's the case, is there an issue with DNS? If the email is stuck in the queue for an hour, can you connect to the destination domain over port 25?

Nothing in the event logs?

Yes, they do eventually reach recipients.
There is nothing in the event logs. About 5 hours later (after I posted the original question) the email was delivered and is now delivering on time.
I thought about DNS issues, but because we were having the problem internally as well, I didn't really check it out. Would that affect internal mail as well?
Thank you -
Andrea

Well, that kind of depends. It's hard to say without knowing how your DNS is setup.

I'm making the assumption that everything looks at your internal DNS servers, and your DNS is setup to either use forwarders or is setup as a root DNS server.
