I have run several dist. of Linux and was wondering if there is any good e-mail clients out there for a corporate network? I am currently running Caldera Open Linux and have tried TradeMail, Kmail (KDE's client) and Postilion (under Debian) I have yet to find a mail client that has the ease of use as Outlook does on an Exchange server.
I would like to be able to use Exchange's "Global address list" but it will not work with POP and IMAP.
any ideas?

One such tool is Evolution from Helix Code at
<A HREF=" TARGET="_new"> application intentionally looks a lot like Microsoft Outlook. For
me, this is great. Regardless of the security issues with Microsoft
Outlook, I really like the Outlook interface. Additionally, Evolution
supports email, scheduling, and maintaining your contacts.

In addition to Evolution, which is tied to GNOME, there's also Magellan.
Magellan is a KDE email tool that also looks much like Microsoft's
Outlook, although Magellan looks less like Outlook than does Evolution.
You can find more on Magellan at
<A HREF=" TARGET="_new"> from ItWorld.com
<A HREF=" TARGET="_new"> hope that helped a bit. =)

try not!
do... or do not. there is no try!

I've had a look at both of these this morning. The one problem I have with them is that they are both very much "Alpha" software at the moment. However, I'll definitely be keeping an eye on both of them as, hopefully, there will finally be an "all-in-one" PIM product for Linux.

Like the author of the article, I like the Outlook interface and some of the functionality it provides. It's always been a shame that there hasn't been anything equivalent under Linux.

--
Hi gus837,

I understand what you are going through and it is a dilemma which I have to agree with. As a Linux advocate and editor, I "should" be using "only" Linux applications. However, to stay productive, I use Outlook 2000 for it's calendering, contacts and pop-up screen to remind me of emails I sent and follow-up on emails I received.

Since I received about 500+ to 700+ emails a day, I cannot waste time with "beta" mail-user-agents (MUA) to filter my and sort my emails out especially when I rely on PGP heavily.

My recommendation for you is to try and install StarOffice 5.2 and use it for a few days to see if it helps. Otherwise, install Mandrake Linux 7.1 and then install Win4Lin (an alternative way to run Windows applications on Linux which is also faster then VMware). Website is at
Email me at moonshi@linux.com.sg if you need further assistance so that we can then write a "User's Win4Lin Howto".
