Hi

thought I'd posted this but can't see it.

Have a server +exchange 200o set up with a user John and an email address of accounts@

John has now left and the job taken by yvonne

I need her to basically take over that user account but change the user name to hers.

Is it simply just going into active directory users and changing the relavent boxes?

thanks
Ian

Does she only need the email address added to her account to receive the emails? After deletion of his email account, add that email address to her email addresses tab. And put his old emails into a PST that she can open as needed.

HI

What she's done is just come in and use his computor

She is happy to do that what she wants changed is the received from name displayed on a received email.

Just wondered if I could change the name in active directory accounts and solve it easily

thanks

Ian

Just delegate or grant full mailbox access on his mailbox and then link it to her Outlook to open up along with hers.

Not sure what you mean bu:
She is happy to do that what she wants changed is the "received from name displayed on a received email."?

If she is simply taking over the entire AD account, then yes, you can simply change the name in AD and it will take care of things.

It just means my answers are from experience, not a book.

There are no more PDC's! There are DC's with FSMO roles!

It's the one thing in Exchange that was so simple, I totally overlooked it the first time I had to do something similar. A lady got married and I went through all sorts of contortions to change her account/mailbox. Turns out I just needed to change it in AD, and everything was taken care of for me.

Always the same, we tend to look for the most complicated way ;-)

cheers
