We have 3570 tapes that was used on the As400 the As400
had to initalize the tape. My question is
They want to used the tapes on the rs6000 system to backup
How do I reinitalize the tape so that the rs6000 database can write to the tapes. Is their a command that I can use to erase the tape or can you just write over the tape.

Thank you

Two Things,

First check if the 3570 can be used for both i-series and p-series, on some models you have to update the microcode.

Second, if you want to erase the tape use the "tctl" command, syntax is as follows:

# tctl -f /dev/rmt0 erase
