We have a tech on-site in another state trying to install a Magix. We have had him default the processor a couple of times. When he boots up the system with just the Processor and a 024 TDL card plugged into slot 1 and with punching down a pair of wires (white/blue) to a jack. He only gets a flashing message light on the phone. He doesn't currently have a laptop on site but is trying to use a phone for programming.

He has tried this with 2 different processors and 2 different backplanes and 2 different 024 TDL cards and the results do not change.

HELP! What is he doing wrong?

It could be that the phone - if it is a 4424LD+ does not have the seperate power supply to power up the display. The phone will not display anything without that power supply. If he plugs in a non-operator phone - the display should work - but it will give the error message that he has a non-operator phone plugged into an operator phone port.

I assume he has the wires punched down for port 1 on the 024 TDL - because that is the default programming phone port.

Tom;

Thanks for the reply. Originally, they didn't have a power supply for the phone but they did have 4412's as well. We sent him a power suplly for the 4424. However, he was trying to use the 4412's and was getting the same response.

Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.

Make sure it is the correct power supply for the 4424LD+ (power on pins 3,4). If he is using a 1151A1 power supply - it will not work. He should run a 2-pair RJ11 jack from the "line" port on the phone to the power supply (phone in) - and a single-pair RJ11 from the power supply (line out) to the blue/white pair of the amphenol connector.

I have had this same issue however I have not yet fully resolved it yet but here is what I found.

Power up the system with the phone or phones already connected and they should work (4412's and 4424). Now if you disconnect the same phone or phones with these issues, when you re-connect them you will only have a flashing message waiting light.

Since I experienced this problem. I have move the phone system and added two cards and during that process I had to proform a cold start to the system. Since then the problem disappeared. The only thing I can point the fix to is the cold start. Please let me know if you find a fix. I hope this helps in some way.

OK, here's what I think is happening:

The VERY FIRST PORT on an 024 Module, is looking for a POWERED 4424LD+ phone.

If you do not have that, it will not be happy.

So, does this info get you guys off of square one or what?
