I have a Magix with centrex & the cust said they couln't do a call trace ( * 57 ). Said they got a busy. Is this the centrex or permissions in the switch. This is not the type of feature you just play around with to prove.

Well, if you have a BUTTON PROGRAMMED you can use FEATURE 57 to do a CAMP ON.

Thus, I am certain that your *57 is something the TELCO is providing.

Now, you can restrict phones from dialing ANY STAR (*) Codes, so that may be an issue here.

Check to see if your extensions are assigned to DISSALLOW LIST 7.

DISSALLOW LIST 7 Prohibits * codes.

I thought the way *57 worked was, after a call has ended, you pickup the line again and dial *57. So you would have to be actually on the same line. If you are dialing out using ARS or a pool button, this would be difficult.

Like I said, this is NOT a LEGEND feature.

I am sure 2BAvoice is correct.

So, you may need to add a flash button to the phone, so when you receive a call that you want to trace, you would press flash to get a new dial tone on the same line, then *57 which causes the alert in the CO's computer to be send to law enforcement.
