Have a customer with a Magix and copper DID's. The provider tells the customer they are in and outbound. I have never heard if this on DID trunks. Does any one know if I can set my DID trunks into my outbound pool and use them as outgoing trunks (if they are truly outbound from the provider). I did not think the Magix would allow DID trunks into a pool, but have never tried.

The only 2-way DID copper trunks I know of are cama trunks used for E911 only.

Anything is possible I guess but I'm sure the provider is mistaken. A test-set will prove them wrong if they are.

I had SBC in Indiana try to tell me the same thing, both the technician on the phone and the salesperson were convinced I could use copper DID trunks for 2 way. I knew otherwise from past experience to I had to make the technician come onsite to try and make them work - they could not. I was able to guilt them into waiving the installation charge as well as the tech visit because of their error.

You cannot use copper DID for outbound pools, they are inbound only. :)

Folks, the LEC's can configure copper trunks to be DIOD, direct inward and outward dialing. The problem is that a DID card on the Magix is DID not DIOD. There is an E&M board that can go both ways, but isn't used much any more. Most Magix / Legend systems using copper DID trunks, are sold with a DID board, and therefore cannot make outbound calls on those trunks. TipHelp@charter.net

Pepprz,
Do you know if the E&M cards accept 2 wire DIOD? Quest is calling them 2 way DID. I have them working as wink start DID on an 800 DID card.

The only time I've used them was to connect to a VoIP gateway, and the pinouts were a little complex. I really don't know if they would accept a 2-wire configuration. They may, I just don't know. TipHelp@charter.net

Thanks Pepperz, I'll dig out the manuals!

If I recall correctly, the 800DID card only lets you program the lines for inbound anyway.
