When some calls in AA picks up you dial an ext if they don't pick up and you 0 to transfer to the oper, if she doesn't pick up it just rings and rings her VM does not pick up. they would like this to go to a general mail box the general mail box owner is ext 100 that is the oper. but niether vm picks up ext 100 or the general mail box how do you set this to go to general mail box?

Depending upon the type of voicemail, you can assign a personal operator. By default, the 0-out is going to the CAS Operator and will not cover to voicemail. If you change the personal operator to the extension of the operator (as long as they have voicemail at that extension) then it will cover to that mailbox if not answered.

No dice on getting it to cover to the general mailbox though. You can send it to the general mailbox, but it won't ring the operator extension first, it will go directly into the general mailbox.

I set the personal operator to ext 100 and check to make sure ext 100 is in the coverage group made sure ext 100 had voice mail tried it that way and still no dice is there something I'm missing personal operator set to 100 should at least send the call to ext 100 mail box right?

Is it a QCC or DLC? If it is a QCC I don't believe it will send it to voicemail.

If it is a DLC, what happens when you just call x100? Does it cover over to voicemail after 4-rings?

Are there extensions "backing up" your operator with cover buttons? What it sounds like is the transfer return rings is kicking in before the cover delay. As an example, say your operators group cover delay is set to 3. Then say the primary cover delay is set to 3, and there are cover buttons used. you have to add these two together to get a total cover delay, which would equal 6 rings. That means that it is 6 rings before the call goes to voicemail. Now, say your Transfer return is set to 5 rings. That means that the transfer return will kick in before the cover delay, transfer return never ever go to voicemail. You can check these settings..

For cover delay:
sysprogram-->start-->extensions-->more-->more-->cover delay.

for the transfer return, you can check two areas, the main one you should be concerned about is:
sysprogram-->start-->Aux equp-->VMS/AA-->transfer return

the other one is here

sysprogram-->start-->options-->transfer-->return time

I am also assuming that you have the operator extension in the proper coverage group as well as , like telecomboy had said, the operator is not a QCC. Hope this helps.

As "jinxs" indicated - set transfer return under VMS/AA to 6 (the default is 4) - and then under Options - set transfer return time to 6 (again the default is 4). If you are using any secondary cover buttons with delayed ring - you may need to increase both of those even more. It will take a while for the call to eventually get to the Operator's voicemail box - but it will get there.
