We have numerous Merlin Magix networked back to a Definity using Tie trunks. We were allocating the first 8 channels for data. The data channels were being seperated by a Paradyne CSU/DSU. Now we are allocating the whole T1 for voice. I cannot get these first 8 channels to be assigned as Tie trunks. I can put them in the pool (891) and assign the network switch number, but I cannot assign the dial in and out mode to tone or tie trunk dial tone with remote.
We are using the DS1 card that does not have a built in CSU/DSU. Any ideas.

Try this: Under Lines & Trunks > LS/GS/DS1 > (ENTER SLOT NUMBER) > Type > T1 . ENTER > CHOOSE ALL UNEQUIPPED.

Then, go back and do it this way:

Under Lines & Trunks > LS/GS/DS1 > (ENTER SLOT NUMBER) > Type > T1 . ENTER > CHOOSE ALL TIE.

Tear it down and rebuild it. Thank you.

Do you think the system has to be idle? I would like to do it remote, coming in on a copper trunk.

The system doesn't but the lines do.

That is, if any are in use, you will get told the system is busy.

But, if you can catch them when none are in use......
