Magix T1 Programming/Hardware issue

I am programming a non-PRI T1 and think I am missing something basic; B8Zs, ESF, robbed bit, did the board renumber, removed all errors and reset the board, no alarms, CLEC sees the switch but doesn't see wink. I have been reading past posts and think I may need to check the tie line portion for E&M wink (although I think that's set) and the signalling for touch tone. I have a couple of ?? - first, what do you guys think about fractional T1's without CSU's? I haven't been using them for a long time and this may be an issue here. Also, I have been told periodically that there are occasional hardware mismatches between old T1 boards (pre-Magix) and Magix processors. Has anyone else heard this? I have been through 3 T1 boards; two Legend-style and one Magix, including the one from my office that I KNOW works, although I have it on an old R7 Legend, not a Magix.

I also have a feeling that I am missing something basic in the programming - although no one at Avaya can tell me what - I don't remember how you put the trunks in the pool when you only have a few, but even if that is wrong the CLEC should see something - this is day 3 and I have a feeling it is going to start interfering with Christmas - not so good. Any help would be greatly appreciated! D

My answer is short and to the point:

Print and post your T1 & General Trunk Programming here.

Fractional T1 is not much of an issue, especially if you are NON PRI.

I forgot, since you are trying to do tie lines, print that info as well when you can.

I am at the site right now so have no way to jump from my PC to this email. I ran the tie report and it is totally blank - just says "tie trunk information" and then an empty screen. I think that is where the problem is..D

Yep!

The usual mistake is you go Sys Prog > Exit/Start > Lines Trunks > T1, and then press ENTER.

Well, you need to press either ALL TIE or TIE (and then define which channels are TIE) at that point.

Some of us can do remote programming.

Hi phonesaz,

One point of information, the CSU deals with the DS1 as a "pipe". It has no effect on the individual channels. Inband signalling comes from the equipment at the channel level on either end , not the CSU.

Hope this helps!

....JIM....

So - when I do the tie trunk programming, do I do it for the board (which identifies 24 channels) or do I only do it for the 10 channels they are using...and also, I checked the one in my office, and it has identified touch tone as the signalling - will telling the switch it has tie trunks accomplish that as well, or do I have to set that as well? And if so, is it by trunk (only do 10) or do I do all 24 channels? AND - if it is by trunk, does it go first to last or last to first? Thanks - D

First off, no harm would be done by telling the switch "ALL TIE", just don't put any "NON-CONNECTED" tie lines in the pool you use.

The "DEFAULT" settings for TIE LINES are:

E&M
Wink (IN & OUT)
Type 1S
Touch Tone (IN & OUT)

SO, just making them TIE LINES sets this up.

It should be rather easy.

You were right on - once I chose all tie it worked. Why do I always forget that step??? Thanks a bunch -- I'll be back - check out the ?? on remote dial up setup.
