I have a Magix that I am trying to upload an .ams file to. The first time, after a frigid start on the processor, the restore failed. The second time it says it worked (I am in a different state from the actual system) but nothing loaded. It said it was still in key mode. I dialed in and tried to change the mode and it won't let me go from key to hybrid. Thinking I may have corrupted the system I did another frigid start, tried to change a few things manually, and still nothing.

So I dug out a manual, and the only reference I find to key mode is that there is a jumper on the mother board that can be changed to make a system permanently in key mode for FCC purposes. I am thinking that is my problem and I need another processor (no one on site is comfortable moving the pins) unless someone has a suggestion on another way to make the system change modes? Thanks!

Permanent Key Mode is just a pair of DIP switches on the processor - Pop it out, flip the switches, pop it back in. They would have to do the same popping out/in to replace the processor, except you could ship it pre-programmed and tested with the PC card.

If this is TRULY a MAGIX, with a CKE5 processor, there are no jumpers to move.

There are, however, 2 little dip switches located near the "FINGERS" of the edge connector that probably are set to the wrong position.

Changing them should resolve this issue.

Thanks guys - that's what I thought - just hoping I was wrong :(
