At a customer site today to check caller ID issue. They have 7 lines with caller ID from co. 3 lines (801,803, and 812) are not showing caller ID on the phones. I let the calls ring multiple times and all that is displayed is trunk number. If I swap lines with no caller ID to line ports that shows caller ID still no caller ID. Trouble follows the line not the port. For testing purposes i moved the lines to 800 gs/ls-id board with open ports and reprogrammed, still did not display caller ID. I have a caller ID box for testing and when I plug the lines with no ID on the system into the caller ID box, caller ID is shown??????? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Is the service provider a traditional LEC or a company that utilizes VoIP?

They are pots line. About a year and a half ago at&t did a major pair cutover in the area and the customer had problem with some lines not showing caller ID but in that case the lines did not show caller ID on caller ID box

Then report the lines to repair service and open a trouble ticket with the telco to get them fixed.

Did you read my 1st post or just my last SYQUEST! My last post was previous issue for info

Syquest is correct. This should be given back to at&t:

"About a year and a half ago at&t did a major pair cutover in the area and the customer had problem with some lines not showing caller ID but in that case the lines did not show caller ID on caller ID box"

I read this to say that everything worked fine up until the time at&t did the cut over. Since that time, caller ID has been problematic.

Despite the fact that a stand-alone caller ID box can pick up the information, there is no reason, why the Magix cannot....especially since the problem stays with the lines. If the problem stayed with the ports, then you would be looking to change out system modules.

If my memory is correct, I've seen posts where a marginal or defective device (a "Line Card"?) back in the Central Office can cause problems with caller ID.

The ball is in AT&T's court, or the CO... I read all the posts and that is my suggestion. Line treatment equipment like an RT (Remote Terminal) has channel units just like a channel bank. They do go bad or can be intermittent. I have first hand experience with this stuff.
