I have a Merlin Magix system with (2) cabinets, Voice Messaging Card, multiple 412 modules, 100 T1 card, etc... that has a CKE5 processor with 1.5 version 6.0. The card now has a defective ADMIN port which no longer works. I have access to a CKE5 Processor with 3.0 Version 7. If I perform a backpu to the system card in the old processor and replace the processor with the new CKE5 running a later version and restore from the backup card will this affect any of the other modules? Do the other modules need to be upgraded or are they compatible? Would I be able to even restore from the backup since it was on 1.5 version 6.0. Any help would be appreciated! Programming from the console phone is not working that great. T

Set up your computer with a modem, dial into the system, and transfer yourself to *10. This will connect to the internal modem. Backup the programming to your computer. Now you can use the Convert utility in WinSPM to change the translations to 3.0, and finally load them into the new processor.

So it should be fairly simple and I should not have to worry about the Merlin Messaging module, the 100 T1 module, etc...?

I have seen an Admin port go bad before and just found a posting that mentioned removing the batteries and reinstalling them may rectify the issue with the current processor - any advice on this or look to swap the processor? Thank you!

get the backup processor updated to R4.7 magix software...then do your convert...keep the orginal processor
intact, till the replacement processor is in the switch and
all cards with all functions are working...this is cheap
insurance.

At this point, Merlin Magix processors are fairly inexpensive on the secondary market.

So....as an alternative to doing the software upgrade to the spare R3 processor yourself....you could simply purchase a processor that already has the R4.7 software in it.

You would still need to do the translations conversion that TTT & HiDesert alluded to.

If it ain't broke, I haven't fixed it yet.
