I am setting up a system with an Ameritec Alegro T1/PRI simulator so I can test DS1, DCD cards etc. I have it set up for PRI routing by dial plan and I wanted to make sure I am setting up the pattern programming right, if my dial plan starts at 100 can I program the lines for the b-channels to have the last 3 digits match the extension numbers and use the following programming

Service (entry 0) Misc-->any
Patterns (entry 0) -->100
Total Digits-->7
Delete Digits-->4

I am also wondering if there is anything else I have to do in programming to allow the simulator to call into the system on one channel and then call back out on another channel? It needs to know the number of the channel to be called of course and the number of the channel that it will be using to call back out on. So far the simulator dials the number of one of the channels and nothing happens, it seems like system doesn’t know what to do with the call. Any help would be appreciated

Thank you,
Jesse

By telling it to match 100 in your patterns, you're telling it to deal specificaly to deal with station 100 and that's it. You should leave the pattern to match as none. This will pass all calls, deleteing the first 4 digits of your seven digit number.

The b-channels are a different animal and operate on the trunk level not the extension.

Franke,
Thanks for the post that makes since. I am still having trouble getting it to work, when I place a call from the simulator nothing happens, it seems like I'm missing something else. Any other ideas?

Did you assign your lines to the b-channels?

Is you simulater matching the Merlin for switch type, ie 4ESS, 5ESS, etc., and remember it must simulate the "Custom" protocol, not "National"

The simulator should also be set for:
b8zs
esf
common channel (24th channel)

Is the 'pipe' itself up? Any errors?

did you click FAQs above there is a PRI programming cheat sheet

Yes, I did assign my lines in reverse order to group 80 and I did take a look at the cheet sheet everything looks good there, the tech for the simulator set it for 5ess so that's what I set the Magix system for.

He was a little confused about the last paragraph in the cheet sheet where it says "L1 flags" should be set to yes so we used 5ess instead, he said his company doesn't call it custom they just call it 5ess so I hope that part is right.

The simulator is showing that Layer 2 is up.

I'm wondering if the call should go to the operator since the system doesn't know what to do with the call or is there some other programming to make that happen.

Thanks again guys.

If the digits sent do not match something in the DIAL PLAN, the call will be routed to the UNASSIGNED D-I-D location, what ever that maybe.

By default is is the main console, but it can be changed.
