Magix Paging 2

I have a cust. who was using a Partner with a Bogen 100 watt amplifier, no issues. They switched to a Merlin Magix and now the page is barely audible. I can hear it coming out of the Magix with a test set just fine. It's been a while since I've set-up paging on a Magix. Do I need a Page Pac to boost the volume? I tried a UPAM with no luck.

If the Bogen amp does not have a built-in Paging interface - then you may need to get a Page Pal or some other paging interface (in between the PBX and the Bogen Amp)that has a loop-start line input - as well as connections for the Bogen amp.

The bogen amp did have a built-in paging interface, but it was still really low even when connected to it. I am going to bring a Page Pal out tomorrow and see if that works. Thanks for the input.

Connect your butt set to the bogen's trunk interface. This would be the same difference as connecting the Magix's paging trunk. There should be some volume controls on the Bogen amp. Do you know the exact model number?

I did connect to the Bogen trunk interface today with my butt set and the volume is low through it. With the same scenerio and a Partner hooked-up (which I tried today as well to see if it was the amp), it was loud and clear. The Bogen 100 watt amp is the BG-TPU100B. Because it works with a Partner, but not the Magix I thought it might need a volume boost from a Page Pal.

Well, there's your problem. It doesn't have a trunk level input. Only a 600-ohm audio input, which is compatabile with the Partner. You need a PagePal or UPAM to provide the trunk interface.
