I have a Magix R2 v9 that will only full default restart. Everytime the machine restarts the processor shows a 'F'and it comes up blank in key mode. Then I have to do a restore. Last time I added a card I had to phantom it first so the restore would take. Now I need to add a new PRI but I can not because of the restarts during programing. The processor is a clamshell CKE5. All of the cards are Magix compatible but WIN SPM acts like they are not. I have tried to change processor but the problem was the same. The only solution I can think of is reprograming another processor from scratch. Any other ideas?

I would first do a TOTAL FULL RESET - AND RESTORE, but with ONLY THE PROCESSOR. (Surrogate Mode) And see if the thing resets.

It does not make sense that another Module could be tripping you up, but that being said, it just could be.

POWER? - Proper Grounding? - those are things I would look at.

You might want to check/replace the capacitors that act as the system's back-up battery. Sounds like they may be "fried" - even though they are supposed to last for years. They are the two big round "Tokin" 5.5V things that are located in the right bottom side of the board (with the front towards you). Another possibility is that that the jumper for the capacitors has been removed or is in the wrong place. This jumper is at the extreme right, bottom (towards the edge connector) cornor. It should be joining two of the three pins - I believe any two - but try the top two pins. If the connector is missing - then you have no battery back-up - and the processor will do a "frigid" start every time it is turned "on" or "off".
