Magix Messaging RS232 Port Reset

Does anyone have any ideas about how to "reset" the RS232 port on a Merlin Magix Messaging? The connection was working fine in the past - now I get nothing - not even a "peep". The Messaging module is a R2.5 (617C49). It is running a Magix R4.0 system. I can still connect throught the LAN using GUI Admin. The module also seems to be working fine - except that I connect via hyperterminal anymore.
