Hello all,
I see a limitations of 200 telephones on the Avaya website for a Magix. Is this physical handsets or is it 200 extension numbers? I am trying to find out if this limitation is counitng TTR's and the like.

I have a three cabinet Legend, upgrading to a Magix, and am wondering exactly how many handsets I can have.

Thank you, Bob

The number of digital handsets allowed per cabinet depends upon the Modules in the cabinet. In theory, you could have up to 200 Digital Telephones on the Magix. The Merlin Magix can handle a load of 96 units per cabinet. Here is a breakdown of the modules and there load:

412TDL= 13
024TDL= 24
100DCD= 0
100R= 0
100D= 0
008MLX= 13.5
016MLX= 27
016 T/R= 12.8
016ETR= 24
800 DID= 8
008OPT= 8
400 E&M= 8
800 gs/ls= 0
408 gs/ls MLX= 13.5
Merlin Messaging= 0

Remember, the first cabinet has 5-slots + the processor(no load) and each expansion cabinet has 6-slots for modules. No cabinet should exceed 96 units.

Telecomboy,
Thanks for the info. I have a question though. My last cabinet has Three 016 w/ring gen. and Three 016MLX cards. The math comes out to be MUCH more than 96. System works though. Am I missing something?

Thanks, Bob

No, I have systems that are over the 96 units as well using the information above. If that is the case, they recommend further detailing the units by the type of telephone connected to each module. So, for an 016MLX instead of using 27 you would add 1.1 for each MLX 20L, 1.2 for each MLX 28D, and .9 for each MLX 5/10/16 with/without display connected to that module (assuming system is in Hybrid/pbx mode NOT key mode). So, if you had (16) MLX 10D's the module load would only really be 14.4 not 27 units. A tip/ring telephone in PBX mode uses .6 units. So, even if all ports were being used, it would only actually calculate to 9.6 units per 016 tip/ring module. These numbers vary if the system is running in Key mode (they are higher).

My first post gives more of a guideline, this should help with figuring out the actual load of each cabinet.

FYI, for Magix phones use the following: 4424LD+ is 1.1 in pbx mode, 4412D+/4424D+ is 1.2 in pbx mode, and 4400/4406D+ are .9 in pbx mode.
