In a week or so, we will have to replace a partner II system with a magix. The 10 analog LS Lines were converted over to a channelized T1 output today.

Anyhow, can anyone tell me what is it that I need to do as far as programming that switch? From what I understand, the primary reason the client is migrating is because they outgrew a 2 cabinet system.

So, I think - or, hope - the programming will be fairly basic.

Any help is appreciated.

thx

Your asking for a training lesson on Magix or to be walked through an install, some people can figure out the programming on a legend magix but it really does take time to learn this beast. your best bet is if someone can take the time to walk you through or if you can get the documents on CD ROM and study them.

I appreciate it and have already started with the documentation.

Anything I need to look out for, or be aware of?

thx

The Magix /Legend is very unforegiving!, make a backup before any big changes.

You're in for a wild ride if this is your first Magix, and you're going to rock your customer's world if they don't understand PBX operation.

You need to make them understand that calls will ring in at the Operator, and be transferred to the extensions. No more just hitting hold and shouting "Hey Charlie, you got a call on line 4!", they will need to use Pickup and dial codes to do this.

On a recent install moving from a maxed out ACS to a Magix, reusing the Partner telephones, we put System Access buttons on both of the old intercom buttons, and more System Access buttons where the old line 1, 2, and 5 buttons were. The top row of Check Messages, Trans VM, Flash and Redial got moved down to the top row with lights. Operator got the only TDL phone in the system, and they added DID lines at the same time. It took 4 training sessions of about 90 minutes each in their conference room to train all their people before the cut-over, using the switch and about 6 sets, but they are very happy with it.

I would suggest that you stage the system, play with it, and train the customer on what to expect before the cut, so there are no suprises that make them want you to stop and go back.

I would also suggest a very good trainer!!! 90% of the game is teaching them how to use this new fangled stuff Pa!
