I have a magix 4.0 v7.0 with a 4424LD with a DSS 4450. I have the external power adapter and everything plugged up as I should and all I get is a flashing green light in the lower right had corner.
I programmed the buttons with ext 100-149 on page 1, but the light keeps flashing.

Any suggestions?

Is the telephone cord from the 4424LD+ that goes from the "line" connector to the power supply 2-pair or single pair wire?? It needs to be 2-pair. You can tell by looking at the RJ11 plug and counting the "gold" connector strips. If it only has two - then it is a single-pair cord. The RJ11 cord from the power supply to the wall plate cam be single-pair.

It is a two pair. The single pair wouldn't light up the display on eht 4424LD.

OK - you didn't say the display lit up on the 4424LD. So now check the "special" cord from the 4424LD+ "adjunct" port to the 4450 "IN" port. Assuming the cord is OK - you should have a songle, steady green light "on" in the first column of the 4450 (2nd light up from the bottom). You can also test the DSS by putting the 4424LD+ in test mode - by picking up the handset and on intercom tone - dialing *00. All the lights on the DSS should light up - green on the bottom two rows and red on the top 10 rows.

The cable between the DSS and the 4424LD is the DW8 that comes with the DSS4450. The only light on the DSS is the flashing light on the button lower right hand corner.
If I go into test mode the buttons on the first row of the 4424LD light up, the display turns ot all 0's, but the lights on the DSS do not light.

I tried a different DSS with the same result. I don't have another 4424LD to test with.

If the 4424LD+ is not an operator extention - then the DSS will not work. You need to move the phone to a valid operator extention position. Ports 1, 4, 8 or 12 on a 412 TDL module. If the extention numbers at those port were made (reprogrammed) as regular extentions - then you need to reprogram one of them to an operator extention and plug your phone in there.

It is in port 1, slot 1. Its a 412 TDL LS-ID. It's extension 100 which is the operator.

What did you do in trying to program the DSS? Maybe, that is the part of the problem - or you have a defective DSS or cord to the DSS.

ALL of the lights on the DSS should turn on when the phone is in test mode. If you get the same resilt with another known working DSS and DSS cord - then it is possible the 4424LD+ may have a problem.

List out the programming steps you took to renumber the buttons on the DSS.

Menu > system > system renumber > single > next > dss buttons > 1 > enter > 100 > enter

I just changed the DSS cord also. Same result.

Try swapping out the 4424LD+ for a known good one and the DSS for known good one.

I don't have another 4424LD. Is ther another phone that will work in this position for the sake of testing?

Try a 4424D+ as a substitute.

That was it. It worked perfectly with the 4424d+.
Thanks for the help and the speedy responses.

Ouch - that means a "bad" 4424LD+!
