Magix DS1 card identification 2

Hello all,

Let me start out by saying I am very new to Magix programming, but I have a very strong telecommunications background and look forward to adding what I can to the community here.

Now, I just recieved a refurbished 100 DS1 card for the Magix, and when I installed it, the system inventory showed it as a 408 GLS card, which is definitely the incorrect card. Is there something I must do to get it to properly identify itself, or do I have a bad card? Thank you very much!

Do a 'Board Renumber'. Note that the system must be 'idle', so if this is a working system, you may want to do it before or after working hours when no one is on the phone.

Brian, when you installed it, did you swap it with another card or just add it at the end?

I added it at the end. The slot was empty before I installed it, and checking the log on the system, I don't believe there has ever been anything else there, but I do not know that for sure. The system was installed in 99 (new) I believe, and the expansion carrier that the card sits in was added two years ago. It is one of two cards in the expansion, both of them being DS1 interfaces, a 100R and a 100D I believe.

Ok, I have tried the Board renumber, and the system still identifies the board as a 408 GLM-U. Does anyone have any more ideas on why it would do this, besides a bad card?

The only thing I can think of is the system had once had a 408 GLS card in that position at some time previous to your adding the T1 module.

Of course, that's a guess.

Try this first.

Remove that T1 Card and THEN do a Board Renumber.

POST what INVENTORY says after that.

I have other ideas, but they are rather destructive......

SO let's try this first!

It could also be that the slot was added in surrogate mode. You might want to do a print of the extension directory and/or dialplan to make sure nothing is assigned to the module (phantom extensions, etc.). If all is well, do as merlinman suggests and remove the 100D module and do a board renumber. This should remove any phantom modules. If for some reason it doesn't, try the following (with the 100D removed)...

1. At the Standard SPM Mode Main menu, click [F3] to select Boards.
2. Click the function key that corresponds to the module you want to select (in your case '408 GLS'.
3. If the module you want to assign is not shown on the first screen of the Boards menu, click PgUp to display the next menu screen.
4. Type the control unit slot number (01 through 17) in which the module is to be installed or removed.
5. Assign or remove the module from the slot entered in the previous Step.
_ To remove the module type from the specified slot number, click [F8] (Delete).
The Boards menu reappears.

Also, the Inspect function (PgDn) (from the main Boards menu)lets you see which modules have been assigned to slots on the control unit. Note that both phantom modules and real modules appear if you use the Inspect feature. To see only real module assignments, you must print the System Information report: System>More>Print>SysSet-up.

Thank you for all of your suggestions! In this case, I tried all of them, and nothing ever seemed to work. Occasionally it would ID itself correctly, but then go right back. I got a new one and tried it, and sure enough, I'm not crazy, it was a bad card.
