What type of voicemail .....Merlin Messaging?...MLM 007....Stand alone? Usually a power cycle or reset of the voice mail will fix it unless the voice mail died all to gether.
I cannot dial into the system remotely, either, to do a soft reboot via WinSPM. Should I just have a person onsite unplug the system then plug it back in after 10 seconds or so?
You can try a reboot of the entire system - sometimes that works. Answer the questions as to type of voicemail - they have different reset procedures. It could also be that the voicemail hard drive has failed.
The voice mail system is Merlin Messaging Release 2.5 module. It is still down. When I try calling the auto attendant on the main number (also the number I dial into for system administration via WinSPM), it just rings and rings. I can dial into some of the DIDs, though. Very weird.
Try dialing in to the main number and have someone manually transfer you to the voice mail group (I assume 770). See, if you can login as system administrator. If you can, dial 9 for system administration and try a soft reset of the voicemail (dial 989-reset). If you cannot log into the voicemail calling group, have someone transfer you directly to one of the voice mail port extensions. If it answers - that's a good sign. If that fails - chances are the hard drive failed.
I just called a DID and had the person try to transfer me to 770. I got a wave off sound. I also had her try to dial into 770 directly from another phone. Same wave off sound. Sounds like a hard drive problem like you all are saying.
Try dialing directly to a voicemail port instead of 770. In fact try a few ports to see if the voicemail answers. If not - hook up via WinSPM (use manual mode - having someone local transfer you in to the processor modem) - and try resetting and restoring the voicemail slot. But chances are - you need to replace the drive. Hopefully, since you have an R2.5 - someone took the time to back the whole thing up to a PC.
