I have a customer that is receiving CID correctly from the carrier as verified on a 4424 set. When calss are manually or auto attend transfered to a 4406 set I am not getting the area code in the string only TRNS: NXX(office code)xxxx(subscriber) is it a display size issue? Any help would be great.

Do you have caller ID-delay set on your incomming lines?

Let me see if I understand: Caller ID is working. In fact, if a call arrives directly to a station (via DID?), then the entire 10-digit string is displayed. However, if a call is transferred via Operator or Automated Attendant, then the area code is stripped and you only receive the last 7-digits.

I can see how an AA might strip your local area code before passing the call along. But Caller ID would be of little practical good if the foreign/outside area codes were stripped out as well.

Please reply with further details.

dag, CID is working, i get all 10 digits to display on the console, non DID, all pots incoming. Tom, I did not set up CID-delay, because i am getting all digits to display on the cosole, do you think this might effect the 4406 sets? This is not full auto attend, recept answers calls, overflow to AA if she doesnt answer.

I've called several customers this morning and verified what you describe. Tranferred calls (of any sort) to a 4400D or 4406D+ show "TRNS: xxx-xxxx" as you said.

These smaller phones have a 2 line, 16 character display, which means they must truncate the information. "TRNS: " = 6 characters, plus the 12 characters in the Caller ID (with dashes inserted). 4412D+ and 4424D+ telephones have 24 character displays and clearly have no problem showing The Full Monty. There's the other issue of Release 2.2 and earlier systems being unable to use both display lines on these phones as well. However, I'm not certain if this is relevant to the problem.

Try this for kicks: program a Caller ID/Name button (*763). When you toggle from Calling Name back to Calling Number, does the TRNS disappear and reveal the area code?

I believe Dagwoodsystems is correct - the problem with the 4406D+ is the 8 less characters per line. The toggle button for name/number should help.
