I have a Magix 4.0 system with Merlin Mail release 4, and am having difficulty configuring my operator's extension.

The operator extension is 221. There is a DID number that rings on extension 200 (adjunct)which 221 is primary cover for. (There is no phone attached to 200 - only primary cover button on 221)

The problem that I have is that I cannot figure out how to light the MWI on 221 when a message is left in mailbox 200, so she knows that there are messages - a visual indication is required.

I tried setting up a phantom mailbox, but 221 is attached to an auto attendant.

I tried renumbering 200 to a calling group and was able to light the MWI, but based on login or logoff setting, the phone would either ring continuously with no answer, or go straight to voice mail.

I would appreciate any suggestions that you have. I am new to Magix, but not afraid to try anything that you may suggest.

Make an unused general mailbox, such as 9994, the phantom destination for 200, and make 221 the owner of the general mailbox for Auto Attendant No. 4

Thank you Triple-T!

Auto Attendant No. 4 is in use but Auto Attendant No. 3 is vacant, so I assume that it would be cool for me to use 9993 and make 221 the owner of general mailbox for Auto Attendant No. 3 instead?

Once I do this, which mailbox would the operator login under? Could she still use 200, business as usual, or would she need to set up and use 9994?

Thanks very much for your reply - this has been driving me crazy.

Sure, you could use 9993 and auto attendant No. 3. Calls received from 200 are listened to by logging into mailbox 9993.

Now, since 221 already points to an auto attendant, does Ext. 221 already light up for the general mailbox associated with that AA? And do you need to distinguish between messages received by DID 200 and 221? If YES, and NO, you could just make the general mailbox for the AA that 221 points to be the phantom receiver for mailbox 200!

Het T-T-T,

Thanks - it works great.
None of the general delivery mailboxes were in use. I just advised operator to login as 9993.
I appreciate your help very much. I spent two days trying to figure out how to program the switch to handle this when the answer was with MerlinMail.
