Trying to change processors
I have a magix 3.0 and its backed up to the PCMCIA card.
I am having trouble installing that PCMCIA card and restoring into a refurbished magix R 2.2 processor.

When i restore it says
File not compatabile
needs conversion.

any Ideas?

When you upgrade your processor, you usually also have to use WinSPM to convert your backup file from the old version to the new version before uploading it into the new processor. If the 2.2 to 3.0 upgrade requires this step, then logically you would have to "downgrade" the backup file in order to upload it to a prior processor version. I don't know of any process to downgrade a backup file to a prior version.

You may not be able to do this. Perhaps someone else with more experience knows a way to do this that I do not.

Best of luck,

can't go backwards, only forward. Only other solution would be to use winspm run reports to files and "hand key" your data-base!

Had to do tis once, and basically the 3.0 will have to be "upgraded" to a 2.2, or have the processor swapped. The translations will have to be manually entered. Much easier to upgrade the 2.2 to a 3.0 and keep the translations.

On e-bay you'll find several 3.0 forced upgrade cards for sale. Thats how you can get that back up to 3.0.

Hope this helps...

Tony,

We have the Magix R3.0.7 (latest release) upgrade card. Call me if you need help as upgrading the R2.2 is the best solution and can be compelted in less than 5 minutes.
