Merlin Magix 2.0 V9.0 with Merlin Messaging - 3 Carriers

My question is about outcalling. (Like so many others)

The customer purchased a 12 port card for Merlin Messaging and installed it himself.

Outcalling had been working on his 4-port for years.

Old Extensions were 296, 297,298, 299. (299 4th port)
New extensions 7168 ~ 7175

I added the new extensions to group 770 as VMI ports.

I understand that ports 11 & 12 need to have the FRL at 3 or greater, unrestricted, trunk to trunk transfer and reliable disconnect, right?

Can I copy extension 299, the old outcalling extension that worked to 7174 and 7175???

Here's the catch.

Outcalling DID worked on the 4-port, and didn't work when I put the old 4-port card back - BUT, they tried to "fix it" 1st before they called me, so I have no idea what they may have hosed up. (I always say, "I can fix anything, if you don't "fix it" first!")

I see the call "trying" to outcall, but no call.

Should I try to an extension in da house?

The number is a cell phone they use for after hours service. Local call. Once again - it worked before ..

Soooooooo. I would like to go back on Monday and copy 299 to 7174 and 7175, check the trunk - to - trunk, FRL 3, Unrestricted, and Reliable Disconeect - they have a PRI - (where is that?) THEN, double check the Mailbox:

Outcalling ON
2AM to 11PM
Every 5 Minutes
9 Times
9*7888195 (I will add a #)

I will verify that 299 had access to Outgoing Local.

Any flaws in my plan, and once again, can I copy 299?

Phew ... what a pain in the QCC!

Thanks!

You don't make mention of Rotary Enable for the VM ports. You need to do that as well.

I don't think that extension copy will move everything you need. It's not hard to program. Go to Restrictions, put in the 1st VM port, and make it Unrestricted. Press Next for the next port, and continue until you get to the 12 one. Do the same for FRL. Do it for Rotary Enable and Trunk to Trunk. Reliable disconnect is a line option.

Outcalling DID? Do you mean that with their PRI, it sends a base plus the extension number on outgoing calls, so that they can ID that the call is coming from voice mail? If so, renumber the 3rd and 4th ports back to their setup space 71XX numbers, and then renumber the 11th and 12th ports as 298 and 299.

Thanks, TTT.

I meant DID as in previously.

The call goes out locally to a cell phone.

Thanks for the reminder on Rotary too. Forgot about that.

I hope to return here Monday night and thank you again.

Reliable on the line - Got it!

FRL, Unrestrict, Trunk/Trunk, Rotary, Reliable, #... HIKE!

With all of the ??? I have seen on this, maybe a FAQ, huh?

At least it's not one of those "We just fired the phone guy - what's the password?" questions. (I've had my share of that too.)

My lucky butt set and I are going there Monday. Thanks!!!
Now they'll be able to "Bring Good Things To Life" again at my customer's. Hint hint ....

Cheers, and thanks Tek Tips!

I told you I'd stop back to report success and it worked!!!

Thanks, TTT.

When was the last time you saw a grown man dancing around waving a cell phone in the air like he won a horse race? (No , that wasn't me - it was the customer, and worth the price of admission, and no, we never hugged either!)

I added Rotary, Trunk / Trunk, checked the FRL=3 to the voice mail extensions on port 11 and 12, and double checked the reliable disconnect. Bottom line - it worked!

I need a nap! Thanks!

Yes, especially if you are dancing with your Cell Phone.

Would Dancing with Cell Phone make a good movie?
