Season's Greetings colleagues.

I am experimenting with a MagicJack Plus standalone device connected to the the IPO500v2 (f/w 8.1.43) ATM4 UNI port with the default settings for the United States locale. I am able to make outgoing calls fine over the trunk port but am not receiving incoming calls though it works well connected to an analog telephone. The most I see on System Status is Prealerting for that trunk for a while but no ringing detected. Monitor shows nothing.

I am wondering if anyone else has attempted this with better results who may be able to share the Ring Persistency and Ring Off Max or any related settings that might help solve this problem. Thanks for any assistance or suggestions.

Best regards,
Michael

Never worked with the magicjack but it sounds like your not getting enough ring voltage out of it.....So a quick google seach and you may not be getting enough loop current out of the magic jack. Found a site that says only 16.5ma and 65vac ringing. IPO needs a bit more I think

Thanks for the reply jhall. I DID suspect the voltage and therefore monitored the ringing with a true RMS meter. It actually displayed 80 - 85 Vac. Then I suspected the cadence (ring-on time to ring-off time) as well. So I thought I would ask the Tech Tip community as these settings vary on the PBX trunk dependent on the locale (country) settings.

Regards.

MagicJack works. But better use a good SIP providor.
Then you won't need a PC running the USB > Analog converter all the time.

Sorry for the delayed response Bas. This is actually the MagicJack Plus which is a stand-alone device with a USB, RJ45 and RJ11 connectors and its own power adaptor. Thus it may be used connected to a PC or by itself connected to a service provider's modem. I am suspecting that the ringing voltage may be too low to signal the trunk port thus requiring a ring voltage booster device.
