magically appearing personal folders in outlook 2002?

Has anybody encountered this, whereby additional personal folders are apparently opened (in addition to your normal one). However, these folders are not accessible, & they cannot be removed by the normal methods (right-click, close personal folders file). The only way I have found to get rid of them is File, Data File Management, Remove

However they seem to reappear at random, & can increase in numbers like tribbles (were they the furry-things in star trek?)

I think I have now solved this.
The autoarchive appears to be a well written piece of code, which upon activation creates a temporary personal folder which is closed if the archive completes successfully. It appears that my personal folders file had a few incorrect archive-to paths, & outlook being the useful thing it is left behind a non-working personal folders file everytime it errored, rather than saying it had errored...
