Went out on a job and the Magix was down. Another tech was there and the processor was going down and up and finally never came back up. BP sent a repl. processor- like for like. I installed the repl. processor and powered up. System came up in Key Mode and I changed it to PBX mode. The system started to restart and never came back up. I tried everything!!! No go. I figure maybe there was one of the cards that caused the old processor to crash and did the same to the replacement. When I power cycled the system the C came on in the led display, went out but not able to connect. The BP is going to send out replacements for every module in the system, power supplies and carrier. I have no idea what caused the issue and don't want to crash another processor. Anyone have this happen to you???

Here's how I would go about this:

Remove ALL MODULES except the FIRST POWER SUPPLY and the Processor.

Power up and see if it comes up OK. (It most likely will)

Then, using the LAST AUTO BACK UP on the PCMCIA Card (Hopefully, it was set to Back Up WEEKLY) restore the TRANSLATIONS.

Then Power down and add the FIRST MODULE to the RIGHT of the PROCESSOR.

If it works and doesn't start the YO-YO thing again, power down and add the NEXT MODULE.

Again, If it works and doesn't start the YO-YO thing again, power down and add the NEXT MODULE.

Continue to do that until you find the BAD MODULE and then you should be able to just replace that one.

HOWEVER, this could be due to a POWER SURGE/LIGHTENING STRIKE and you may be faced with more problems than just one Module.

Hi MM-After the restart I couldn't even get it to come up with just the power supply and processor. I swapped out the power supply, no change. :-/

Now, it's time to look at the Power coming from the wall. Right now, that's all I got.

You could try bringing up just one of your Processors with one or the other Carriers, but I still recommend looking closely at the power.

Sure sounds like a lightening hit to me, based on what you've posted so far.

Thanks MM- I wish we would get lightning here in So Cal. We might get some much needed rain!! Another tech is going out on this since I'm booked up.
I'll let you know what happens.

The issue has been resolved. The BP sent out a replacement unit. They didn't want to run the risk of blowing out another processor. Like for like replacements for 2 carriers, power supplies, processor and all modules. System restored from the backup. The only module that was reused was the MM.

Would love to know what caused all this. - You say no lightening, but what could it be? - I guess we'll never know.....
